Sri Shatpuracharyaru hails from Nippani. His father, Sri Venkateshacharyaru, and mother, Smt. TulasiBai, formed a pious couple. Though Sri Venkateshavaryaru may not have been extensively educated, he ensured Sri Shatpuracharyaru received his early education. Sri Shatpuracharyaru pursued advanced studies in grammar at Kolhapur and later went to Shoorpali Galagali Sri Babarya for Vedanta studies. After completing his studies, he returned to Nippani.
In the scholarly town of Nippani, known for its lineage of Advaita scholars, Sri Shatpuracharyaru embarked on his quest for spiritual knowledge. However, he did not find the Bhagavatha Vyakhayana by Sri Vijayadhwaja Teertharu, which his heart yearned to study. Instead, he steadfastly rejected the Shreedhara Swami’s Vyakhayana of Bhagavatha, which espoused the concept of the oneness of jeeva with paramatma.
During this period, tragedy struck as his beloved parents passed away. Sri Shatpuracharyaru then relocated to Belgaum, where fate led him to encounter Sri Raghupraveera Teertharu, the Peethadipathi of Bhemanakatte Matha. Under Swamiji’s profound influence, Sri Shatpuracharyaru delved deeper into the teachings of Rujutva and Vrundavana Akhyana, alongside devout followers such as the Walvekar family members.
Upon discovering his life’s path, Acharyaru implored Swamiji to guide him towards the sadhana that would lead to moksha. With his profound insight into past, present, and future, Swamiji revealed that he was not Acharyaru’s niyata gurugalu. Instead, Swamiji directed him to Jambukhandi Vadirajacharyaru for the next phase of his spiritual practice. Under the guidance of his new guru, Acharyaru diligently studied and practiced sadhana, eventually finding the path to moksha.
Gratefully receiving idols of ‘Hayagreeva in the midst of Chandramandala’, the revered avataratraya idol of Mukhya Pranadevaru, and the Panchabrundavana of Sri Vadirajaru, Acharyaru worshipped and installed them at his home, bestowed upon him by Guru Jambukhandi Vadirajacharyaru.
Acharyaru lost his first wife. In order to continue agnihotra rituals, he married again. when he came forward to install sri vadirajara panchanbrundavana premises in shoorpali, he faced opposition. he failed. he was ostricised because of his association with sri jamukandhi vadirajacharyaru and his steadfast belief in sri vadirajara rujutva and akhyana upasane. he did not give up. he was steadfast in his belief.
Shri Shatpuracharya was renowned for his exemplary spiritual and religious practices, as well as his scholarly abilities. He imparted shastra knowledge to numerous students of Sri Babarya and Jambukhandi Acharya. Under the pen name Sri Pranapati Vithala, bestowed upon him by Sri Ramadasa (Shreeshapranesha Vittala Dasaru) of Lingasuguru, he composed several Dasara Padagalu. Throughout his life, he lived independently and practiced Madhukaravrutti steadfastly and earned the grace of SriHari-Gurugalu. He passed away in 1902.
